The common feature of exceptionally well-led schools is that they all have strong and involved governing bodies and chairs of governors who make a major contribution to school strategies. Ofsted’s focus on the impact of leadership and management shows that the development of strong partnerships, based on support and challenge, between the headteachers and governors is something that schools should plan for and approach as strategically as they would when developing the curriculum.
